Cheers Social Group Activities

Cheers Trip Opportunities: While some of our Cheers members are beginning to return from visiting their families and friends, “back home,” others are leaving for what they thought would be cooler spots. Several members took off to California and Mexico where they have timeshares.

Our planned Tuscany trip is fully booked with 40 people, of which half are Cheers members. This tour will feature staying at a single hotel in a town outside of Florence and taking day trips to surrounding towns and to Florence to explore and enjoy the benefits of immersing oneself in the culture of the region.

Our next major planned trip is to Athens and the islands of Mykonos and Santorini in October 2023. The ability to stay at each location for two nights rather than a few hours will provide opportunities to truly explore what makes Greece and its islands so attractive to tourists. And going in October, after the height of the tourist season, should provide added pleasure. Six Cheers members have already indicated they are signing onto this trip.

For those who don’t want to venture far from home, there is a trip to Rocky Point, Mexico, Oct. 25-28 where a variety of activities are offered. Cheers members are also signing up for numerous short trips that include visits to Jerome, Queen Creek, and to the Castle Casino, which includes a visit to a wildlife preserve.

For more information, call Richard Lewin at 609-332-3915, or Donna Clutcky at Free Spirit Vacations at 480-926-4447, Ext. 2. As we use travel agents, all are welcome on these tours. For more information, visit our website, www.cheerssinglesclub.org.

Monthly Wine Tasting: Once a month, a member of our group opens their house for wine tasting. Lorene Roberts leads this monthly social time. For the month of September, our member Bill Delaney hosted our event where we try new and exciting wines, followed by a potluck dinner. We have 20 to 35 members join in this great socializing opportunity with friends, and sample what may be new wines to some.

Cheers Golf Group: Our golf group took a break during the August heat and resumed in September.

As this is a members-only activity, you will need to be a member of our Cheers Social group. Please contact Mike Swoverland, either at our weekly meeting at the Oakwood clubhouse in the Bradford Room or via email at [email protected] for information on joining our new golf group. Contact Ginny Marr at 480-390-5145, or Richard Lewin at 609-332-3915 for more information on our club and membership. We look forward to having you come and visit us at our Thursday social time at Oakwood Country Club. All singles are welcome.
