We have had amazing support for our latest endeavors. Our hardworking, dedicated members have made and filled 60 Easter baskets. The baskets were filled with a plastic egg with candy, a Tootsie Pop, a coloring book and box of crayons, a bottle of bubbles, box of chalk, a toothbrush and toothpaste, a Beanie Baby, and a bracelet for the girls and a Hot Wheels car/truck for the boys. The baskets were wrapped and tied with beautiful bows during one of our meetings. The baskets will be distributed by the Arizona Department of Children’s Services and the Chandler Police Department.

We will also be donating another 65 pillowcases and 30 teddy bears with books. We have been overwhelmed with the donations from not only our members, but from total strangers who have heard about our good work and many, many friends of our Sew-N-Sews members.

Our group makes pillowcases on an on-going basis and is also working on coloring books and totes, race car track carriers, and cars. Next, we will be focusing on dressing the dolls that have been donated. (Dolly Dressers is now part of the Children’s Charities umbrella.)

Children’s Charities is a charity group of Sew-N-Sews. We meet on the first Thursday of each month from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Sewing Room at the Arts and Crafts Center in Oakwood. Please contact Patty Hutson at [email protected] or [email protected].
