The Chordaires Show Chorus recently performed a quick preview of their upcoming April 6 show for the Women’s Connection at Oakwood. Their selections were “There’s No Business Like Show Business” and the rousing “Who Will Buy?” from the musical Oliver. Then singers ate a quick lunch and returned to their practice room to continue polishing the rest of the show, A Salute to the Music Men.
The Chorus practices twice a week, the Ambassadors octet has an additional practice, and the quartet has even one more. Since Jan. 1, they have learned more than 15 new songs, which they will sing in tight, four-part harmony with no accompaniment, barbershop style in the show.
On top of rehearsals, the gals are in a flurry with last-minute preparations. Costumes, props, equipment rental, and ticket sales all must be finished in time for the one big day when they step on stage to perform for their friends and family and other loyal supporters.
Ann Buckheister, the show chair, said, “The people who buy tickets and fill the seats make it possible for the Chordaires to do what we love to do. We do our best to make them glad they came with good music, glitter, interesting trivia, and laughs. Really, it’s great fun!”
Tickets to the show are $18 and are available online at Chordaires.org or from any Chordaires member.
