In sports, we generally measure success from the performance of winning and losing. One of the best lessons you will receive is coming up short (losing!). If someone is a good loser, they will accept their loss without complaining, as well as add compliment to their opponent’s play. If someone is a bad loser, they will find excuses for losing and merely complain about the fact.
I have had my share of losses, but always graciously look my opponent in their eyes as we shook hands and silently thank them for playing and testing my skill set. Playing and losing provides insight and understanding. If I was to play them again, what would I do differently to potentially win next time? Nobody likes losing. It is part of the game and not the end of the world when this happens!
