Mixed Media Collage by member artist Linda Wagener

August brings not only heat records, but diverse artists and their works to the Desert Artists Club of Sun Lakes. We are fortunate to have many talented artists who bring a unique and beautiful diversity to our club. It is certainly a wonderful opportunity to watch art unfold each week as we gather to work on our individual creations. The DAC is a place to create with other artists (or wanna be artists) each week throughout the year. The beautiful mixed media featured art is an example of trust, patience and willingness to allow a vision in progress to unfold creatively. Members enjoy not only creating their own art, but also watching and following along others works in progress. It is inspiring and artists are constantly learning and appreciating the efforts of other members. Our members are friendly and non judgemental and range from beginners to professional. In other words, all levels are welcome and appreciated.
The DAC meets weekly throughout the year each Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. in the Ceramics Room A-8 in Cottonwood. We are located across from the library in the courtyard and are opposite the golf Pro Shop. We are a casual club with no dues or regular meetings. We meet to enjoy creating with other artists and sharing our love of art. We each bring our own supplies and work in our preferred medium. Some mediums include but are not limited to watercolor, oil, acrylic, colored pencils, charcoal, ink and mixed media. We also have social times with snacks and ‘Share Your Art’ displays where we can bring in some of our favorite art works. It is always a fun and delicious time.
If you are a resident of Sun Lakes and live in one of the three HOA’s you are eligible to join our club which has been in existence for over two decades. Our togetherness and love of art keeps our club going strong. If you are interested in checking out our club to see if it might be a fit for you, stop in and see what we are all about. Feel free to ask questions and get a feel for the club. The best time to drop in is between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m.. You may also email me at: sue.sindelar@gmail.com with additional questions.
