Pat O’Connor and Harry Gates arrived at the season’s first dance, “Havana Nights.” Members and their guests had a wonderful time. The food was great, and the band was terrific. The Lyn Jackson Ensemble with vocals by Lyn accented the Caribbean theme.

One of our dance studio sponsors is Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Chandler. This is their third season as a Cotillion Dance Club sponsor. We appreciate their continued service. The first two group lesson for this season featured Rumba and Cha Cha. The Fred Astaire instructors were terrific. Two dance instructors attend our dances, and you can dance with them. This provides students with a chance to use what they learned and build some confidence on the dance floor.

The next group dance lesson will feature the Foxtrot. Mark January 12 at 10:00 a.m. in the Sun Lakes Clubhouse Mirror Room. This room is located at 25601 S. Sun Lakes Boulevard; enter from west entrance, proceed through sliding door, turn right, proceed to first hall on right, proceed to end of hall and the Mirror Room is on the left. All residents of the Sun Lakes communities are welcome to attend our club’s group dance lessons. The dance lessons are being held in the Oakwood dance studio. The Saturday, January 13, 2018, dance will be “The ninth Annual Black and White Ball.” This will be a formal affair. The Swingtips will be presenting a themed performance in the style of a showband. Be sure to mark your calendars. Guest seating will undoubtedly be limited, so register early. The chef is preparing special hors d’oeuvres served with champagne, and there will be will be instrumental background music for the reception. Featured entree will be roast lamb, last season’s most “liked” choice.
