The annual Member/Guest Tournament held on March 21 was a great success. With Rachelle Wilson at the helm as committee chairperson, the theme was “Holiday Extravaganza.” All 130-plus players dressed in an array of various and clever costumes representing their favorite holiday. Through the sale of raffle tickets, baskets, mulligans, a jewelry sale, and a silent auction, enough money was raised to donate a check for $6,000 to the Phoenix 100 Club. This worthy organization provides immediate financial assistance to families of public safety officers and firefighters who are seriously injured or lose their lives in the line of duty. A big, final thank you goes out to all participating lady golfers, all sub-committee chairs, and all volunteers who made this tournament a great success and a fun experience.

On April 18 we had our farewell and awards luncheon in the Saguaro Room. Tables were decorated by Jean Nelson in a clever array of beach items, including flip-flops and flamingos. There were 17 Birdie Pins awarded to deserving members. The Most Improved Niner of 2024 trophy went to Cindy Fulton. The Club Championship winners of 2024 were announced: Susan Uttinger winning low gross and Laura Carothers winning low net. There will be two teams representing the Cottonwood Lady Niners at the 2025 State Medallion Tournament: Margot Sodahi (gross) and Julia Collier (net) and Susan Uttzinger (gross) and Cindy Fulton (net).

It was a fun-filled year with lots of events. All golfing ladies are invited to join us next fall for another great season of golf as the Cottonwood Lady Niners.
