For the first time, Cottonwood Tennis Club (CTC) sent a team to the World Team Tennis Competitions. The three-day event was June 2, 3, and 4 in the evening, at Scottsdale Ranch Park. The CTC team competed at the 3.5 level.

According to Barb Jorgensen, they were clearly the oldest team. The competition categories were as follows: Men’s/Women’s Singles, Gender Doubles, and Mixed Doubles. The Sun Lakes Seniors played against two teams per evening and placed sixth out of the eight teams. This was their first World Team Tennis Competition but probably will not be their last.

Team members were Captain Barb Jorgensen, Dean Sinerious, Judy Grefsheim, Ollie Johnson, Kelly Jacobs, Bonnie Greco, Steve Nolan, Ron Ryer, Bill Jenack, Maryann Sinerious and Jeff Villareal.
