Temperatures approaching 100 degrees in Arizona this time of year don’t seem to faze the hardy Cottonwood tennis players. Our courts are still bustling with players, although mostly in the morning hours!

The women’s Monday spring round robin group and the men’s Thursday group are completing their first few weeks of play. The women’s group is only scheduled for 12 weeks ending the first part of June, just before many players head out for other, cooler areas. This group was organized by Mary White and Susie Dunn.

Since there are more men participating in the summer months, their Thursday league will run from April through September managed by Dag Grundem. Although snowbirds are slowing drifting away, there is still a lot of activity during our organized times on both Mondays and Wednesday for the women and Tuesday and Thursdays for the men before the aforementioned leagues begin at 10:00 a.m. On Fridays our mixed organized groups continue to be very popular but the play times are much earlier to beat the heat of the day!

Drop in tennis is going very strong on Thursday night with Pierre Moresi conducting the play. Club members and homeowners alike are welcome to join this tennis night. It is reported to us that this is a thoroughly enjoyable evening of fun tennis!

Our Monday and Tuesday night clinics at 7:30 p.m. have come to a close during the summer months. Don Neu and his team have done a fine job again this year. Don has dedicated his time for many, many years to our club and we all appreciate his dedication and devotion.
