Mitzi Iverson, Membership Chair, has announced that Gila Butte DAR will offer a free workshop for women interested in locating a Revolutionary War ancestor and joining National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). The workshop will be held Saturday, February 24, 2018, 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in Sun Lakes.
Trained DAR Genealogy Consultants will present information on how to get started with applications and will provide guides to the genealogical tools available. Attendees should bring family documents and pedigree charts, and reservations are requested. Call 480-802-6993 for information and reservations.
DAR is open to all women over 18 who can prove bloodline descent from a Patriot of the American Revolution. “Patriot” includes those who served in the military, as well as those who provided support to the revolutionary cause by serving in civilian governments, or who took an oath of allegiance to those governments. Also included are Patriots who contributed goods or financial support.
DAR is one of the most inclusive lineage societies in the world. Eligible women are welcomed, without regard for ethnic origin, religion or race. As a service organization, DAR asks that members participate in the vast array of service opportunities within the Society. There is something in DAR for every American woman, whether her interests and talents lie in historic preservation, in education which assures our nation’s future or in patriotic endeavor.
Do you have a Revolutionary War Patriot in your family? Are you interested in discovering a Patriot? You are welcome to attend the Gila Butte DAR Genealogy and Application Workshop, Saturday, February 24, 2018, 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in Sun Lakes. Call 480-802-6993.
