Democratic Club’s February Meeting to Highlight Candidates and Legislative Updates

Attend the Sun Lakes Democratic Club (SLDC) meeting on Feb. 12 and meet the Democratic candidates running for the Maricopa County Superintendent of Schools, Maricopa County Recorder, and two running for seats on the Chandler City Council. Candidates will include the following:

Dr. Laura Metcalfe, Democratic Candidate for Maricopa County Superintendent of Schools, has over 20 years in education in both the classroom and in administration. She is currently a board member for the East Valley Institute of Technology. Dr. Metcalfe has a B.A. from ASU and a masters and doctorate in education from Northern Arizona University.

Tim Stringham, Democratic Candidate for Maricopa County Recorder, is a native Arizonan, ASU graduate, and Afghanistan war veteran and is currently serving as an officer in the Naval Reserve. As an attorney in the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps, he helped develop the rule of law in Africa and the Middle East.

Cicely Rocha-Miller and AJ Kurdoglu, Candidates for Chandler City Council (CCC), will be running for two of the three positions that will be on the August 2024 ballot.

If you’re unable to attend our regular club meeting, then join us at 10 a.m. for our First Friday Coffee on the first Friday of every month at Kneaders Bakery on West Queen Creek Road in Chandler. Good coffee, good treats, and even better conversation with like-minded people—can life get any better?

SLDC will also be hosting a voter registration table from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Festival Market at Sun Lakes Country Club the first and third Tuesday of the month from January until May. Get registered to vote, and get ready to become active in the 2024 elections.

SLDC is made up of like-minded individuals who are part of over 2,500 registered Democrats throughout the Sun Lakes area promoting an Arizona that works for everyone. We invite you to join us at 6:30 p.m. for a social hour, with the meeting starting at 7 p.m. on Feb. 12 in the Navajo Room at the Sun Lakes Country Club, at 25601 E Sun Lakes Blvd N., in Sun Lakes.
