Welcome to April in Arizona. Constantly changing landscapes inspire us to pick up our brushes and create something that truly reminds us of the beauty in our world. Nature’s endless gifts are there for the creating in our own unique way. They are always welcome by others who may recall having been to a place that seems to be awakened on the artist’s canvas or paper. We give thanks for their effort and talents that connect us to those heartfelt memories.

April also signals the time for some of our winter artists to return home to their Northern abodes. Know you will be missed.

The Desert Artists Club (DAC) meets each Tuesday afternoon from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Ceramics Room (A-8) in Cottonwood, which is located across the courtyard from the library and near the Golf Pro Shop.

We come together to be with other artists and create in a supportive and fun environment. We bring our own supplies and work in our own medium. The DAC is a casual club with no dues or regular meetings. All artists in the three HOAs are welcome to attend and join. We have occasional social gatherings and bring snacks and some of our artwork to display for all to enjoy. We welcome artists of all levels and all mediums.

If you are new to Sun Lakes or wish to just come and see what we are all about, stop in any Tuesday and check out our friendly group. The best time is between 3 and 5 p.m. Feel free to ask questions or just peek in and see what we are creating. You may also contact me, Sue Sindelar, at [email protected] or call for further information and leave a message at 480-745-2198. I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

Happy creating!
