If you are an artist who lives in Sun Lakes and are looking for camaraderie, consider the Desert Artist Club (DAC). The DAC is a place where people come together each Tuesday, year round, at the Cottonwood Ceramics Room, A-8. The DAC is a noncompetitive outlet for creative people who like being around other creative people. You can be an expert or someone just beginning to paint. We all benefit from the encouragement and advice of the more experienced members. Everyone is friendly and nonjudgmental. Each artist brings their own supplies and works in their preferred medium, such as watercolor, oil, acrylics, and mixed media to name a few.

We have several social times together throughout the year, where we share potluck style treats and bring some of our art to display. Members have a chance to discuss their art with fellow members and hear their thoughts and insights about their creative process. It is always a fun and inspiring time that encourages each of us to learn and continue on our journey. Remember that doing art is staying on the course of creative learning, a journey, not arriving at one’s definition of perfection.

If you are new to Sun Lakes or are thinking of checking out our art club, stop by any Tuesday between 3 and 4:30 p.m. (best time) and see what we are all about. Feel free to ask questions you may have. We are a casual club with no dues or regular meetings. The DAC has been here for decades and continues to inspire long time members with fresh new artists joining us along the way. You may also email me with questions at: sue.sindelar@gmail.com.
