Desert Navy Update

Richard Volpe

The Desert Navy continues its 2022 program with our next meeting scheduled for April 15. We’re looking forward to a nice turnout, as our latest updated roster has just come off the press. Our meetings start promptly at 11 a.m. and, in most cases, will last for approximately an hour. Following the meeting, attendee’s will have the choice of staying for lunch, made available and offered by the extensive IHOP menu. Our meetings are held at the IHOP restaurant located off Arizona Avenue within the Target Shopping Center. All veterans who have a past history with the Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marines are always welcome. A great way to learn a little more and meet up with some new acquaintances is to join several of the group at our weekly Tuesday luncheon at 2 p.m.

One of our goals at most of these meetings is to have a guest speaker from the outside who can discuss a topic of interest to all our club membership and, in the process, keep us informed and up to speed on things we previously may not have been made aware of. In an ever changing world, it is pretty difficult to keep up with the constant changes made to benefit packages and new things that constantly make the headlines almost daily as the world turns. The information passed on is always of value and an eyeopener in some cases where there may be opportunities we were never aware of.

As a club, our doors are never closed for those in need. One of our club’s primary goals now is, and has always been, to provide support to those veterans who may be in need due to an unexpected accident or hardship. Our club maintains a storage facility that has a variety of medical supplies and equipment that can be obtained in a short amount of time for those in need of temporary or long-term support. For additional details regarding this or information pertaining to club membership, feel free to give Rich Volpe a call. He can be reached at 480-802-2532. Rich and his staff have helped many in the past. We can’t help if you don’t call. Have a safe and healthy summer, which is just around the corner.
