Desert Navy Update

Richard Volpe

With the arrival of the fall season and things continuing to move in a positive direction, the Desert Navy is back to normal regarding our monthly meeting scheduling. During normal times, the Desert Navy meets monthly from September through May, and the intent is to continue monthly meetings once again starting at the normal times in October. Throughout the summer, the Desert Navy and many of its members continued staying in touch with weekly lunch get-togethers and were always available to provide support to anybody who experienced any unexpected hardships during those times. Monthly meetings for the Desert Navy are scheduled for the third Friday of each month starting at 11 a.m., and are currently being held at the IHOP restaurant located in the Target Shopping Center off Arizona Avenue in Chandler.

As a club, one of the Desert Navy’s primary goals is to help support those in need due to an unexpected problem or hardship, and help is only a phone call away. The club continues to store and maintain several warehouse facilities that house an extensive assortment of medical equipment and are happy to help anybody when there is a need. Among the items in storage are a variety of motorized units that are available. For a more detailed description of what is available, if you have an interest, please contact Rich Volpe. His telephone number is listed below. This equipment is maintained and kept in tip-top shape and is available to those who have a need.

As mentioned earlier, several club members do continue to meet on a weekly basis at the IHOP located within the Target Shopping Center off Arizona Avenue. These get-togethers are held on a weekly basis and typically are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Tuesday afternoons.

The Desert Navy welcomes all veterans who served time in the Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marines. New members are always welcome. For additional information regarding membership, medical supplies, and club activities, feel free to call Rich Volpe. He can be reached at 480-802-2532, and I’m sure he would be happy to talk to you. Enjoy this fine time of the year when the weather is so envied by many, and the spirit of the holiday season with the new life it brings into the area is only days away.
