Desert Threads: Quilt Construction Final Stage

Mona Adams demonstrating the result of a Walking Foot technique in a quilt

Cindy Templeton

At the October meeting, Mona Adams spoke on the latter part of quilt construction, quilting your quilt using a Walking Foot. Mona is a longtime quilter and well-known instructor from 35th Ave Sew and Vac. Mona covered all the key components, starting with thread types and weight, machine needles, and batting. She provided numerous tips and tools that make this process easier. Several members signed up for a class in October to learn new skills to enable finishing your quilts on your own!

Bonnie Bobman is our November speaker. She is a creative powerhouse and lives just up the road in Scottsdale. Bonnie is a national award-winning quilter with a passion for spontaneous creativity. She will speak on “Making It Work … Your Way!” She is a member of Arizona Quilters Guild and Phoenix Modern Quilt Guild. Bonnie is a dynamo and can help us get more comfortable being “out of the box”! Put the Nov. 13 meeting on your calendar.

Desert Threads is a chapter of Arizona Quilters Guild. Regular program meetings are the second Wednesday of every month at the Cottonwood Computer Learning Center. Social time starts at 9 a.m., with the meeting at 9:30 a.m.
