Donations for Sun Lakes Women’s Associations

Charlotte Newberry

Where would we be without donations? They are the very heart of all non-profit organizations. In fact, to be honest, we rely on them to keep us going and we always expect some kind of response, but are often surprised that people don’t equate what the ladies give when they decide to offer their services – volunteer hours (which means juggling appointments and shopping trips), time (which is often very short) and last but not least, energy!

The faithful ask for nothing in return, but often gain so much; for instance, new friends or finding out that someone you have known also volunteers her time! The fun you can have while helping with whatever project you choose gives you a sense of usefulness while serving your community. People often forget that every penny we make goes right back into projects for our vast Sun Lakes Community – we keep nothing for our association! This is open to any lady from the community and we meet on Mondays from 9:00-11:00 a.m. in the Arts and Crafts room in back of Sun Lakes Clubhouse.

Donations also come in the form of all sorts of wonderful useful objects in good condition given by all of you! Also, if you are looking to buy any household items check with us first. Very affordable prices! For donating or buying call 480-895-9270 ext.220 and you will be able to talk to someone in charge.

Our recent donations have been most happily received and I want to thank one and all! These were for the lovely Veterans Memorial which we dedicated during the Memorial Day celebration and include both personal and organizational financial donations:

Edward J. Sowney (Men’s Softball); East Valley Marines; Russell W. Bercier – VFW Post 8053 (Bingo Account); Russell W. Bercier – VFW Post 8053 (Ladies Auxiliary); Sun Lakes Republican Club – Mike Tennant, Chr.; Kris Lynch, veteran; Carolyn Hawkins, DAR; Gila Butte Chapter NSDAR, Bonnie Clark; Sun Lakes Rotary Foundation; Larue Wade, Plain City, UT.

Our sincere thanks to one and all! Our annual Bazaar is coming November 6 through the morning of November 9! Watch for more information – don’t miss this one!
