Short-court tennis was introduced by the Cottonwood Tennis Club in 2024 to help people try the sport of tennis. It was designed for those who:
• Love tennis but can’t play the full court,
• Have mobility limitations or are recovering from injury, and
• May have been uncomfortable with the size of a tennis court.
We have had such an overwhelming response that we can actually host a full tournament.
A beautiful thing happens when a new sport is introduced to our community—it builds friendships. The combination of a standard tennis court, net, and ball, along with a paddle-style racket, have great appeal to tennis players, pickleball players, and those who have never tried a racquet sport.
The shorter court, depressurized tennis ball, and paddle make it an easy sport for everyone. A match, played in about half the time of a full-court tennis match, makes it an excellent sport for summer. It allows you to get out of the house and back in before it gets too hot.
This tournament is exclusive to Cottonwood Tennis Club members only. Not a member? Not a problem. Go to www.cottonwoodtennisclub.com. It’s quite the value for your small dues. For questions on short-court tennis, contact Bill Swift at 552-955-0922.
