Flash Mob! Did You See It?

Robin Murray

Sun Lakes Community Theatre (SLCT) members were Dancing in the Street—Mick Jagger and David Bowie style—as flash mobs performed around Sun Lakes to celebrate the return of live theatre and to grow excitement for the SLCT experience.

“Flash mobs” appear unexpectedly at a public gathering to perform a choreographed number, then disperse just as randomly. Residents at Cottonwood, Ironwood, Oakwood, Palo Verde, and Renaissance were surprised by the SLCT entertainers in early June.

The flash mob dance was choreographed by SLCT member Sally Holberg. Sally said, “A casual comment suggesting a flash mob inspired us to create this great dance troupe. In just a few short weeks of dance rehearsals, we all were ready to dance our way out of COVID and into a new theatre season with renewed energy.” And our active adult community responded with equal enthusiasm for the surprise performances.

With live theatrical performances, children’s productions, workshops, and social events, the SLCT theatre experience is open to actors and non-actors alike. Please visit us at www.slctinfo.com or email [email protected].
