Something Fascinating to Learn this Summer

Rina Cupples, Reiki Teaching Master

A Reiki Level I class will be offered on four consecutive days: Thursday, July 15; Friday, July 16; Saturday, July 17; and Sunday, July 18, from 9 a.m. to noon each day at the Fitness Activities Center (FAC), 25219 S. EJ Robson Blvd., Building A, in Cottonwood. You’ll be learning how to give yourself calming energy to assist your body, as well as your emotions, toward greater order, balance, and health.

But if you’ve never heard about Reiki, we’re also offering a demonstration and information session before class on Thursday, July 8, at 11 a.m. at the FAC. Please call 480-895-1776 to register. There is no fee.

Reiki is pronounced Ray-Key and means Universal Life Energy. It feels soothing and comforting. Once you learn how to access it, you can give it to yourself, your loved ones, and your pets. Everyone benefits.

Level I class consists of 12 hours of instruction and practice time. You will learn hand positions for head, front, and back of body. And you will receive four attunements to align you to allow and receive healing-balancing life energy. You will have time to practice giving Reiki to other students and have the opportunity to receive for yourself. A student notebook is included containing all the information covered in class.

I am teaching Reiki I class as four three-hour days, so you can process what you have learned each morning.

Giving yourself Reiki on a daily basis helps you cope with life stresses and helps your body maintain homeostasis. I’ve been using Reiki every day for 40 years. It has helped me through life’s trauma, loss, and grief. Reiki is an energy that calms emotion and centers mind in heart. Being at ease and mentally centered helps restore your body as well.

You can register for class by calling the Fitness Center desk at 480-895-1776. Please register by July 13. Pick up a Reiki brochure.

Private Reiki sessions are available, given by trained Reiki practitioners Donna Penna, Chris Cabanban, and me, Rina Cupples, at the FAC on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Call the FAC desk 48 hours in advance to schedule your appointment.

You are also cordially invited to join the Sun Lakes Reiki Circle which has been meeting via Zoom at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday mornings. Contact Reiki Master Lois Valleau at 480-883-6699. She has all the information for you. Meeting includes meditation and group sending of Reiki energy to everyone who participates. This is a beautiful experience. You don’t need to be Reiki-trained to attend.

Lots of Reiki activities going on in Sun Lakes. We look forward to meeting you!
