Bob and Vickie Bybee
At the November Dance Party, the Fun Lakers surprised the Bybees with a FunMakers Certificate of Recognition. Bob and Vickie are longtime Fun Lakers Club members who manage publicity for the Fun Lakers Club. They both focus on press releases, deadlines for publications, and photo opportunities. Bob is also the champion of signage. These readily recognizable signs you see at the key intersections around our community are the work of one man. Together, this couple keeps the Fun Lakers Club in the news.
Need some laughter? Who doesn’t, right? A sure way to make the laughter flow is to get tickets for the Fun Lakers Club’s next big Comedy Night on Feb. 18, at Cottonwood’s San Tan Ballroom. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for bar and food on a limited menu, with the show starting at 7 p.m. There will be three performers: Mary Upcurch, Don Steinmetz, and headliner Bobby Tessel. Bobby Tessel is known for his television roles on Saved by the Bell and New Class in the ‘90s. He also was a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. We have an awesome low ticket price of $10 for members and non-members. The tickets are available online at www.funlakers.com.
The Euchre Club meets year round on the first and third Tuesdays of the month. We also have Mexican Train every Monday evening at 6 p.m., in the Cottonwood Game Room.
Do not forget, if you are joining the Fun Lakers Club and if you are single, sign up for the Solo Group or let us know if you are a member and want to be added to the Solo list. Also note that there is a Solo table at all events.
Sun Lakes Dance Parties, available to the public, started on Oct. 21, and the last one is in April. The Feb. 16 party will feature music by Outside the Line, and wear masquerade masks (black, white, red). Prices are $15 at the door, and the doors will open at the San Tan Ballroom in Cottonwood at 5:30 p.m. Free dance lessons are at 6:30 p.m., with open dance from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Come for dinner with no-host bar and full food menu available. All are welcome. You do not have to be a Fun Lakers member to attend dances. A note for everyone is that all the paperwork says the doors open at 6 p.m., and they actually open at 5:30 p.m.!
Stay tuned, as the Fun Lakers have many things in the works in the coming month: March Game Day on March 5, Dance Party on March 17, and Golf Cart Rally on March 26. If you want to keep up on us, go to our account on Facebook, www.facebook.com/funlakersclub, or funlakers.org.
