Getting Your Electronic Devices Ready for Recycling

Helen Seaton, Publicity Director

October is Recycle Month. At both the Computer Booters Club general meeting on Oct. 12 and the workshop on Oct. 19, we will be giving instruction on how to get your electronics ready to donate/recycle. This is in preparation for the recycle event on Nov. 5. The meeting on Oct. 12 will be from 12:30 to 3 p.m., with a time to socialize and get acquainted at 12:30 p.m. The presentation will begin at 1 p.m. The meeting will be in the Computer Learning Center building. The meeting will also be available via Zoom. Members and first-time guests will be eligible for door prizes.

The Workshop on Oct. 19 will be held at 6 p.m. in the Computer Learning Center’s Phoenix Room. The workshop will be open to guests who have not attended a previous Computer Booters meeting.

Technology Recycle Event: The Computer Booters Club is partnering with Sun Lakes Rotary Club and AZStRUT (Arizona Students Recycling Used Technology) for a Technology Recycle Day on Saturday, Nov. 5. The event will be held in the Sun Lakes Country Club parking lot from 8 a.m. until noon. AZStRUT, who has given us presentations in the past, will be there to accept our donations. To learn more about them, check out their website www.azstrut.org. You’ll be amazed at what they are able to recycle.

The website for the Sun Lakes Rotary Club is www.sunlakesrotary.com. You will see they are heavily involved in charitable activities throughout the community.

Computer Booters will schedule workshops in October to help show how to wipe your hard drives before you donate equipment to any charitable organization. The dates for the workshops will be announced later.
