The Sun Lakes Rock and Gem and Silver Club is offering a class in Beginning Gourd Crafting starting November 12. The class will be held on Thursday mornings from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Oakwood Rock and Gem Room in the Arts and Crafts Center. The cost of the class will be $50 and run for five weeks. All materials will be furnished.
You will need to be a member of the Rock and Gem and Silver Club to take this class. The first meeting will be October 19 at 10:00 a.m. at Sun Lakes One in the Navajo Room. Class sign-ups can be done then. Class size will be limited to five people. An additional class will be offered in January.
Gourd crafting has become an art that can go as far as your imagination will take you. We have a very sharing group to talk over ideas and sharing different techniques to use.
If you are one of our winter visitors, or not, always be on the lookout for natural items to bring to the class to use and share. Pine needles, pine cones or the flower stem of the palm trees are only a few of things nature offers. When you are out and about take a sack with you to bring in items we could use as either decoration or in trimming.
