Perfect for Sun Lakes: a Walk-A-Thon where you do not need to walk in order to participate. Whether you are out of town or unable to physically do the walk, you can register as a “Walker in Spirit.”
Our firefighters and EMTs show up for us, now it’s our turn to show up for them. Join your fellow Sun Lakes neighbors on Sunday, Oct. 19, from 8 to 10:30 a.m. by participating in the First Annual Firefighter Walk-A-Thon, Supporting Our Firefighters—One Step at a Time. It is being held at Oakwood Country Club, and all Sun Lakes residents are encouraged to participate. It will be a fun-filled morning dedicated to showing our first responders how much we appreciate their professional and caring service to all of Sun Lakes. This fundraiser is sponsored by the Greater Sun Lakes Community Foundation (GSLCF). All proceeds from the event will go to the Firefighters and EMTs Food Fund for Stations 231 and 232. It is an easy way for you to chip in on their grocery bill throughout the year by reducing their out-of-pocket cost for on-duty food expenses.
There are options for everyone:
You can register to walk 1/2 mile, 1 mile, or 2 miles. If you are unable to participate by walking, or you are out of town, you can register as a Walker in Spirit. Just as there are options on the distance you want to walk, there are also options on the amount you can choose to donate.
First Responder: $20
Lieutenant: $40
Captain: $60
Fire Chief: $80
Community Hero: $100+
