Help the Anglers help children

Dan Hall

The anglers have finished their first fishing derby where we teach local schoolchildren to fish. Our next outings are Tuesday, November 10, Thursday, November 12, Tuesday, November 17, Wednesday, November 18 and Thursday, November 19. You do not have to be a member to help the kids fish. Fishing with children is a very rewarding experience; their excitement and smiles are contagious. Your commitment is to show up at 8:45 a.m. at Lake No. 6 in Sun Lakes Country Club. We fish till 11:30 a.m. All equipment and bait are furnished by the club.

As you know, our schools are in a budget crisis. Most are no longer able to afford the cost of transporting children to the derbies so the Anglers are helping using funds from our flea market sales. We need things to sell at the flea market. You can help by looking around and finding things that make you think, “Why am I keeping this?” Call Don Herring at 480-802-9320 for drop-off or pick up. We sponsor the flea market at the SLCC on the third Saturday of the month from 7:00-11:00 a.m. November’s market will be on the 21st. For a booth of your own at the flea market contact the SLCC office at the Clubhouse. Only a $5 fee gets you a spot. See you there.

We meet on the first Tuesday of the month in the Mirror Room SLCC at 7:00 p.m. New members are welcome and like all clubs needed. You can also see us at the Activities Open House at SLCC on November 14.
