The club’s off-season hikes began this summer with a 6.3-mile hike on Houston Loop Trail along the Mogollon Rim near Payson, AZ, 4800 feet above sea level with temperatures 20 degrees cooler than in the desert, 90 miles away – a nice respite from the summer heat enjoying nature with friends.

While our hiking season for the Sun Lakes Hiking Club formally runs November through April, the club unofficially continues to hike Monday mornings during the summer months.

New to hiking? Come join our group. We hike at all skill levels, and our club is a great way to spend time with others while seeing parts of the Valley and beyond that you might not get to see otherwise. Check out our website at meetup.com/sun-lakes-hiking-club to view descriptions of our hikes and some great photos that club members post.

Want to join us for some good summer hikes? Contact our club president Stu Frost by emailing him at [email protected]. Or join us this November for another great hiking season. We are a friendly, inclusive group that welcomes all hiking enthusiasts!
