Larry Wolfe
Art Isley and Dr. Hal Kime were honored with the Spirit of Sun Lakes Senior Softball award at the annual banquet held in the Oakwood Ballroom on March 30. The Spirit Award is presented to members who go above and beyond in support of our organization. Thanks and congratulations, Art and Hal!
Over 130 people attended the banquet, which featured a very happy Happy Hour, a three course dinner, music and dancing to Gary Alexander’s One More Time Combo and an awards program. Winners of the second annual Geezer Awards were: Best Two-Man Synchronized Players (Jesse Washington and Steve Schaider); Mystery in the Sky Award (Owen Bae); Faces Only a Mother…(Red Waterfield); Oddities at the Field of Dreams Award (Dennis LePore and John Seigla); and A Day in the Life of a Senior Softball Third Baseman Documentary Award (Ken Ponzio). Don’t ask for an explanation of what these awards are for; you had to be there to understand! Thanks to Mike Core for putting together the Geezer Awards and his annual slideshow, to the One More Time Combo and to party planner extraordinaire Pat Wolfe.
At press time, the spring session was nearing completion with Terry and Susan Young’s West USA Realty team and the Brenden Financial Services team in a close race for the pennant. Steve Hilby, Larry Kaufmann and Bill Whiteley were battling it out for the batting title. Go to the Stats Page on our website (www.sunlakessoftball.com) for up to date stats and team standings. Final league and tournament results will also be in next month’s Splash.
