The Sun Lakes Camera Club (SLCC) would like to recognize a few members who have stood out during this COVID-19 pandemic. Our meetings may have been canceled to date, yet our members have been active in photography competitions and events. John Livoti has been active in the Photographic Society of America (PSA). He recently received his EPSA Recognition of Photographic Achievement (ROPA) designation. John has received over 700 acceptances in international exhibitions recognized by PSA. Jan Livoti also has been busy working with PSA as secretary of the Print Division and has spent time with the Conference Committee working on tours. Phyllis Peterson entered one of her images for Phoenix Magazine publication and was selected as a winner and featured in the June/July issue.

Featured image: Herman Dirks captured this cutie in August at Bearizona during a club outing. He used his Sony DSLR with Sony 18-250mm lens set to 250mm; iso 800, with f/6.5, and a shutter speed of 800.

Members: welcome to SLCC 2020-21 season. The safety of our club members continues to be our first priority! As we start differently, photographic education and celebration is our main focus. There is a virtual program scheduled for Oct. 15. This program is presented by Hunt’s Photo staff on mirrorless cameras. The presenter is located on the east coast, so this virtual meeting via Zoom will begin at 1 p.m. Arizona time. The Arizona Camera Club Council (ACCC) will be holding their fall RoundUp virtually. If you did not receive a flyer, please reach out to Lynn for more information. Please do your best to enter the competition and support the ACCC.

Mark your calendars for upcoming month events: we are planning a dinner meeting at Joe’s BBQ in Gilbert on Nov. 5 and a photoshoot in the Heritage District. They have dining available with outdoor seating. Our Nov. 19 meeting will be a virtual Zoom meeting where we will see the winners of last year’s year-end club competition. Our Dec. 3 meeting will be a webinar with Lisa Langell starting at 5:30 p.m. and lasting until 7:30 p.m. More to follow later. Unfortunately, we had to cancel our photo trip to Bosque del Apache due to concerns about COVID-19. We will reschedule for December 2021, and will precede the trip with a program on bird photography by Cindy Marple. Look for more information and instruction in your emails and on our website when it becomes available.

The Sun Lakes Camera Club meets the first and third Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Navajo Room of the Sun Lakes Country Club from October through April. During the summer, the club meets the first Thursday of each month in the Ceramics Room of the Cottonwood Country Club.
