Member of the Year Award

Included in the program, along with the Installation of Officers, is the Member of the Year Award. This year’s recipient is veteran Gary Kanowsky, JWV’s “go-to” man who always steps up to the plate. A professional magician for 20 years, Gary enjoys entertaining the vets and their children at JWV functions.

Gary is a key player in JWV’s fundraising efforts by managing the Mesa Market Place Poppy Campaign on several three-day weekends per year by supervising two shifts of volunteers, setting up the display tables, and collecting, counting, and turning over thousands of dollars to JWV’s Quartermaster. The Post donates this money to the many organizations that provide help to our veterans. Look for Gary and JWV volunteers at Mesa Market Place and Fry’s Food Stores this Memorial Day weekend and please give generously.
