The sad days of line dancing are upon us. The dancers who have been dancing with me/us for several years and returned in the New Year are leaving again. The happy days will be when we see them along with the new dancers who will also be returning.
The continuing happy days are because we year round residents will be dancing through June and restarting September 5. If you would like to join me/us you need to call to register for the September classes. Let me add your name to the list by calling 480-802-0201 after 10:00 a.m. You will be registered for the Ultra Basic Class which is in the SunBird Ballroom on Mondays at noon. If you are a full-time resident and an experienced line dancer you may be able to start sooner. Give me a call after 10:00 a.m. at 480-802-0201.
The method I use to teach people to dance and learn line dances is to instruct and describe what you are doing with your feet. Yes, there is remembering involved. At our age, or actually any age, learning and remembering is a good thing. It’s like the vegetables our mothers encouraged us to eat. Why is there a teacher if they don’t give instructions to help you learn? Yes, we could get a little lazy and want to just move around but what happened to the learning and remembering?
The beauty and reward to learning line dances and dancing them is to see the footwork in the dances, everyone moving to the music at the same time, listening to music you love and recognize and being proud of what you have accomplished along with the other dancers. It’s then I appreciate and realize the reward of teaching line dancing. It’s when I see the dancers clap, smile and want more! It validates my method of teaching! God bless line dancing!
