Yes, I’m excited about returning to teaching and dancing after 17+ years. I must be, because I woke up way before my regular time today. It was a good thing I did, as this was the deadline day for articles to the papers.
There are many reasons why people “get hooked” on Line Dancing. It gives you “stamina,” a/k/a “exercise.” It gets your mind to “thinking,” i.e., in sequence, logical, organized, being in the moment. It brings you together with very nice people who end up being good friends, and you are happy being with them. It brings you great music that lifts your heart, i.e., “Your Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher and Higher,” “Just A Closer Walk with Thee,” “Let There Be Peace,” plus the songs that just make you want to dance, i.e., “Can’t Stop the Feeling”/Timberlake, “Mack the Knife”/Darin, “Can’t Sleep Love”/Pentatonix, “Why Not Tonight”/McCoy, “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.”
If you would like to join us, you need to register by calling after 10:00 a.m. 480-802-0201 for the Ultra Basics Class, $2.00 pp. For the month of September plus October 2, we are dancing on a different day and times. On October 9, we will be back in the SunBird Ballroom on Mondays starting at 11:30 a.m. The existing classes of Basics and Beyond Basics follows the first class.
My method of teaching is using consistent words for Steps and Patterns, so it is easier to learn a dance. “Following” is not encouraged, because you never learn S&P’s and dances. You need to be “mobile,” a/k/a “able to move.” You need to be able to hear, as I do not and have not needed to use a mic. You need to be willing to commit to learning. What follows is this: You will be dancing and having fun right along with the rest of the dancers who have been with me for a year or many years. They are my incentive and inspiration to keep dancing and teaching people to dance. Thank you! God Bless Line Dancing!
