The Lucky Shot Pool Club concluded another successful season with its annual spring awards luncheon April 22 at the Cottonwood Country Club. Among the 28 members attending were three of the charter members of the club formed back in 1995, Ed Allen, Joe Pantano and Sergio Tinajero.

Club President Mike Giarlo welcomed the members and led a tribute to Dick Hensley, who announced his retirement from tournament play. Hensley was awarded a certificate certifying his 4,190 games of tournament competition.

Tournament Director Gary Vacin announced the following tournament results: 2013-14 Club 8-Ball champion Jerry Cisneros and 9-Ball championship contenders Jack Hill, Sam Gilman and Tony Mongonelli. Also announced were spring tournament winners: Jack Hill, 9-Ball pocket 1; Randy Eshpeter, 9-Ball pocket 2; and 8-Ball winners Jerry Cisneros, pocket 1; Ernie Gabbs, pocket 2; Jeff Michelin, pocket 3; Michael O’Rourke,  pocket 4; Al Moore, pocket 5; and Jerry Conner, pocket 6.

Larry Stadler was elected to the club board of directors as member-at-large and the following officers were re-elected: President Mike Giarlo, Treasurer Roy Partridge, and Tournament Director Gary Vacin.

Rules changes dealing with incomplete tournament results and forfeitures were discussed and passed unanimously.

Now in its 19th year, the Lucky Shot Pool Club is open to all Sun Lakes residents and is seeking new members. Competition is now underway in the first summer tournament ending July 10. The second summer tournament is scheduled for August 1-September 10.
