During the High Holidays, the Men’s Club organized its annual Food Drive campaign as partner of United Food Bank in the fight against hunger in our communities.

I am delighted to announce that with the help of our congregation we collected 578 pounds of food which will be distributed through charitable United Food Bank partners and will provide 482 meals to those who struggle daily for food.

I would to thank the Sun Lakes Jewish Congregation members for their compassion and support of the fight against hunger and to Sheldon Kruger, Gary Hasenfus and Art Fink for helping with food collection.

We started our annual activities on October 6 with a well-attended meeting. Our speaker was Tamara Barnett, the Deputy County Attorney at the Maricopa County Attorney Office.

Her lecture was not only entertaining due to her natural humor but very informative. We learned a lot about the balance between the need to prosecute but in the same time to judge within the reality of the cases.

November speaker was Chandler Mayor Jay Tibshraeny. His lecture attracted over 25 members and included a state of the town presentation as well as details of Chandler future developments. The Mayor allocated a significant time to questions from the participants.

The November mid-month outing was a double event: breakfast buffet at Talking Stick Resort followed by an Arizona fall league baseball game at Salt River Fields.
