Message from the President

Leonard Horst

This is such an exciting time of the year for all of us in Cottonwood Palo Verde! Our snowbirds are returning from their travels all over the world, and we are fully engaged in high-season activities.

On behalf of the entire board of directors, it is our pleasure to introduce our new general manager, Andy Andrews! Andy joins our team after spending the past seven years as general manager and chief operating officer at Tonto Verde Association in the far north reaches of Scottsdale. Prior to that, he completed a stint in Connecticut for two years, and before that, he was the executive director at DC Ranch Association in Scottsdale for five years. Andy earned his BS in science, cum laude at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minn. He also has a long list of professional certifications, including PCAM, AMS, and CMCA. Andy and his wife Sharon will be relocating to the Sun Lakes area over the next few months. We are delighted to welcome them to our community!

It is also my pleasure to welcome Kathy Skrei back to the board of directors! Kathy has been a resident of Cottonwood Palo Verde since 2004. She has served on several of our standing committees and also as board president for two terms. She brings a strong working knowledge of the HOA, has the interest of the entire community at hand, understands the history of the community, and is widely respected by homeowners, management, and the board of directors. She also serves as a director and the vice president of the Greater Sun Lakes Foundation. Kathy assumes her new position immediately. In addition to her normal duties as a director, she will be the board liaison to the Architectural Compliance Committee. Congratulations, Kathy, and thank you for your willingness to serve the community.

Plans for the complete update of the Cottonwood pool are on track and proceeding nicely. Our pool architects have completed the design drawing phase and are now deep into the construction drawings. We anticipate these documents to be completed around Oct. 10. Once the drawings are complete, we will then begin the construction permitting process with Maricopa County.

The management team and board of directors have been working diligently on the 2026 Budget. The plan is to have it completed by the end of the month and ready for presentation to the homeowners at the Oct. 29 special board meeting.

I wish everyone a safe and enjoyable October!
