Many of our members are now back to their summer homes, and many of us will be taking our summer vacations to escape the hot temperatures. As a result, our weekly golfer count is dwindling, slowly but surely, but we still have plenty of our members to compete each week. For the remainder of the summer, morning events have a 7:30 a.m. shotgun, and the afternoon players will start at 10:00 a.m. with a staggered tee time schedule.

MOGA has an event each Thursday throughout the year. Why not join MOGA and meet some new friends while playing a variety of team and individual games each week.

Upcoming schedule for July MOGA games (game descriptions are on the MOGA website):

July 5 – ABCD Lone Ranger

July 12 – ABCD 1 Gross, 1 Net

July 19 – ABCD Mixed

July 26 – ABCD Shamble

Aug 2 – ABCD 1,3,2

Are you new to the area or just looking for a great way to spend time on the course and meet some new friends? You don’t have to be a resident of IronOaks to join our group. We have over 350 members with golfers at every level. MOGA has an event each Thursday throughout the year. Why not join MOGA and meet some new friends while playing a variety of team and individual games each week? Membership application and more information is available on our website at

MOGA is allowing its members with handicaps of 26 and higher to play from the Yellow or Silver tees. Contact Dan Muth if you would like to move it forward.

Hole-in-One: Congratulations to Mark Heth for his hole-in-one on #4 of the Palms course during the Home and Home with Cottonwood event on April 12.

Volunteers Needed: We are looking for volunteers to help in the upcoming 2018/2019 season to help lighten the workload for our committees and officers. If you have a few hours each month to help make our organization function, please contact Doug Braun at 480-215-0970 or [email protected] or Dan Bogaard at 641-780-2666 or [email protected] Without our volunteers, there is no organization. Thanks to all those who currently give their time!

Shirts and Hats: MOGA has two items for sale if you are interested – a MOGA shirt and a MOGA hat. The shirt is one of the most comfortable shirts I have worn for golf. The cost is $25 (there is no markup on this cost). Sizes available are S/M/L/XL. Additionally, the buttons on this shirt are snaps, so there are no buttonholes, which makes it easy to button for anyone who may have some arthritis issues.

The hat is a stretch hat that really looks good. Have received many compliments on it. The cost is $10. The sizes are S/M and L/XL (it’s a stretch hat). If you wear an XXL this hat will not fit you. So if you have a really big noggin, this hat may not work for you.

To purchase either or both of these items, please contact Craig Annis at [email protected] or call him at 480-940-0902. Craig will bring your shirt/hat on Thursday and accepts cash or check.
