MOGA’s August activities

August was highlighted by a Home and Home tournament with MOGA and the Palo Verde Men’s Club. On August 14 the teams competed on the Oakwood course, then the Palo Verde course on August 16. The winning team, comprised of two Oakwood members and two Palo Verde members, was Bob Strong and Neil Siegel of Oakwood and Jack Hill and Jack Wortley of Palo Verde. Tom Wheaton and Larry Weaver won the two MOGA Low Net afternoon flights.

In Individual Stableford competition on August 7, Jerry Petersen, Chuck Sloan and Jerry Copeland won the morning flights. Richard Winkelman, Bob Johnston and Gary Holland were winners in the afternoon flights.

The August 21 morning event was an ABCD 1-2-3 game. The winning morning team consisted of Gary Solomonson, Sid Schwartz, Karl Becker and Howard Weiss. The afternoon Low Net competition was won by Glen Butler.

On August 28, Individual Match Play pitted one member against another in 26 morning matches and five afternoon matches. Four matches ended in ties. The 27 winners were Ken Baker, Thomas Bezrutczyk, Ben Brown, Russell Cauffman, John Ciccarelli, Jerry Copeland, Tom Courtney, Phil Dantzscher, Paul Dinardo, Pat Dooley, Joseph Ferrazza, Jim Flanagan, Larry Gagnon, John Gaudioso, Timothy Grimm, Bob Johnston, Brian Keene, Tom Kiste, Val Longmore, Gene Mcintyre, Roger Nordin, Rich Pavlak, Neil Siegel, Chuck Sloan, Billy Walberg, Howard Weiss and Aki Yasuda.

MOGA is the Men’s Oakwood Golf Association whose weekly events are held on Thursdays. A variety of golf game formats provides the members with both individual and team challenges.
