The IWLN welcomed a new executive board for 2019. With tears in her eyes, Judy Thompson handed over the gavel to Sandy Krediet. Many, many thanks to Judy for her dedication this past year. Not only did she do an impeccable job of running the league, but she did it in a friendly, warm, and inviting way. Another big thank you goes to Nancy Heberling who handed her very worn pencil to our new secretary, Barb Johnston.
On Dec. 14, the IWLN celebrated the holiday season with a fabulous brunch attended by almost 50 of our members. Bette Farr, Barb Johnston, and Sally Dixon did a wonderful job providing the members with a meal of chicken and wild mushroom crepes and cheery holiday decorations.
Along with the holiday festivities, the IWLN celebrated our talented golfers by giving out various awards for birdies and chip ins accomplished during the last nine months of 2019. Congratulations to the following golfers:
Chip ins: Denise Weibel (2), Ann Gavin (3), Sandy Krediet (2), Shirley Moore (3), Sally Dixon, Margaret Johns, Barbara Johnston, Fran Kelly, Judy Thompson
Birdies: Linda Liberti (2), Carol Knack (2), Ann Gavin (2), Barb Sletto, Margaret Johns, Denise Weibel, Judy Thompson, Denise Fleshner, Sally Dixon, Sandy Krediet, Ruth Reese, Mary Medved, Barbara Stewart, Collen Duke, Maureen Krol
Medallion winners: Ironwood will be sending two of our members to the 2020 state tournament. Denise Weibel, gross winner, and Fran Kelly, net winner, will pair up to represent the IWLN at the state tournament to be held in January at our very own Oakwood Country Club. These ladies will do the IWLN proud!
Boasting about NEW members… due to Judy Thompson, Sandy Krediet, and Judy Fink working the Oakwood Open House and the Oakwood Expo, as well as spreading lots of applications around the area, the Ironwood Lady Niners have added over 20 new members this past year! We have already welcomed many of these new members to our group, but the following ladies joined us in December: Pam Berry, Donna Piel, Elaine Ralls, Karen Franz, Sheila Petriello, Wende Hettinger, Sue Parmenter, Judith Messey, and Julie Little. We are delighted to have them as part of the IWLN golf league. Good golf and good times are guaranteed.
