A Message from the President
Pat Horning, IronOaks President
It’s 2026 Budget Planning Season at IronOaks
Budget season is one of the most important times of the year at IronOaks. Developing a thoughtful budget allows us to plan for the year ahead, operate efficiently, and prioritize key capital improvements that enhance our community lifestyle. This is a collaborative effort involving our Management Team, Finance Committee, Board Treasurer, and the entire Board of Directors.
The budget process includes managing our three primary funds:
• Operating Fund: Supports daily operations such as staffing, restaurant food and beverage, utilities, taxes, fertilizer, and seed. Surplus funds may also be directed toward short-term projects such as the recent golf cart path widening behind the Pro Shop.
• Reserve Fund: Provides for the repair and replacement of community assets, including equipment for common areas and golf courses, HVAC systems in our buildings, and perhaps most importantly, our roads. As a gated community, we must carefully maintain and replace more than 25 miles of roads.
• FACE Fund: Supports large, long-term projects such as the Grill on the Green and Poolside renovations. This fund is sustained by a one-time fee paid by new homeowners when they move into IronOaks.
In addition to operating expenses and capital projects, the budget process also includes evaluating homeowner assessments and amenity fees for the coming year to ensure we have the resources needed to support our community’s future.
Thanks to careful planning, IronOaks has enjoyed budget surpluses in recent years, and we are working toward the same outcome for 2026. Our goal remains to keep assessments and amenity fees aligned with the values and expectations of our community. We’ll continue to share updates as the budget process moves forward.
IronOaks: A Premier Retirement Destination
Our mission remains unchanged: to preserve and enhance IronOaks as one of the most desirable retirement communities in the Valley. We remain committed to transparency, financial responsibility, and ongoing engagement with our residents.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and enjoy everything IronOaks has to offer as we approach the fall season!
We Want You … to Join the IronOaks HOA Board
Are you interested in shaping the future of IronOaks and making your voice heard? Now is your chance to step forward and make a meaningful impact by learning what it takes to serve on the IronOaks HOA board.
Coffee Chats will be held in the Oakwood clubhouse library at 10 a.m. on Oct. 21, Nov. 18, and Dec. 16. These sessions are designed to help you discover what it means to be a board member, including the responsibilities, time commitment, and steps needed for a successful campaign. You’ll have the opportunity to engage directly with current and former board members in open Q&A meetups, gaining valuable insight into managing our vibrant community.
After attending these informative sessions, you’ll have plenty of time to consider your involvement.
Your experience and knowledge in business, sports, food and beverage, finance, facilities, and legal operations are all valuable assets our community welcomes to the board. Applications to run for an open board seat will open in early 2026, giving you the chance to prepare and plan your candidacy thoughtfully.
We warmly welcome all members of our community—present committee members, activity group participants, previous leaders, active homeowners, new residents, and those who have never been involved before. No matter your background or experience, your perspective and passion can help shape IronOaks for the better.
