Niners June 2021 Results

Jim Wegman, Publicity

It is my sad duty to report that we have lost another Niner. Our friend and fellow golfer John Britz passed away early this month. John was a league member for three years, and despite his difficult situation, John always had a smile. To John’s wife Terry and the entire Britz family, we offer our sincere condolences on John’s passing.

Pace of play. It is important to maintain a steady pace of play. Playing at a steady pace is not hurrying or rushing around the fairway. It is about being more efficient with your valuable time and that of others. Minimize your time on the tee box, hit when ready, and keep your pre-shot routine short. Try for no more than one practice swing. Your correct position on the course is immediately behind the group in front of you, not immediately in front of the group behind you. Make your putt in a timely way, and leave the green promptly after holing out. The current time to play 18 holes at Oakwood is 4 hours and 10 minutes. This suggests a nine-hole outing should be 2 hours to 2 hours 10 minutes. At Ironwood, the current play time is 3 hours 40 minutes. Keeping a steady pace of play will ensure the game is fun and fair for all of us.
