The Oakwood 9-Hole Couples League played their last tournament on May 5. What a great year the league had under the direction of Jean Karich, president; Roberta Havey, vice president; Lloyd Schaeffer, handicaps and pairings; and Judy Hedding, treasurer and membership chair. Judy Thompson, chief fundraiser, and her helpers collected $1,800 by selling 50/25/25 tickets. The funds were donated to the Chandler High School Girls Golf League. The coach was thrilled and very thankful.

The board for next year will consist of Roberta Havey, president; Jennifer Pender, vice president; and Lloyd Schaeffer and Judy Hedding continuing in their positions. Thank you all for the time and effort and, above all, patience you give our league.

Next season will continue with our motto: “A terrific day of fellowship, fun, and some golf.”

You will receive emails that will instruct you on joining the league next year. This was the 20th year the league has been functioning. It was started in 2003 by a few couples who just wanted to play nine holes. The league plays 13 times a year, November through May, with dinner or lunch following golf.

If you are interested in joining the league as a couple or subs, please check out the bulletin board in the league room in the golf clubhouse.
