Oakwood Artists’ League (OAL) members are ready for a critique session.

The Oakwood Artists’ League (OAL), formed in 2003, welcomes all skill levels that embrace mediums ranging from oil to acrylic, water color, pen, pencil, paper collages and dyes. Since we are not instructor-led, some prior experience is required. While OAL artists have received much acclaim, do not let this discourage you. Most of us seek stepping stones to increase proficiency and bonding.

OAL meets every Friday and the second Tuesday of the month in the Oakwood Arts and Crafts Building at no designated time. The room is available Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and the second Tuesday of the month from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Simply arrive and leave at your convenience.

Bring your medium, inspiration and expectation. Members present upon newcomers’ arrival will provide starting guidance. Should you wish to join OAL, contact our leader joyce at [email protected].

If desired, OAL members will offer friendly critique of other members’ work on the first Friday of the month between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Members who like to demo or lead a mini-workshop are invited to do so on the fourth Friday of every month.

Our next professional workshop, by guest artist Julie Gilbert Pollard, will be held on Tuesday, April 11, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Julie will guide us through creation of a landscape painting in acrylic and/or water media.

Last not least – about 10 OAL members will display their art for sale at the Art of the Lake Exhibit on March 4. OAL will also participate in a “Taste of the World” gift basket raffle benefiting the Sun Lakes Fire District.
