Believe it not, these canvases show the first step in a palette knife acrylic painting workshop with Phoenix professional artist Bruce Marion. On a Friday in early October, nine Oakwood Artists’ League (OAL) members were part of an all-day workshop starting at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 4:30 p.m.

These canvases were placed outdoors to dry while OAL artists learned more about how to convert this first step into a landscape painting featuring a lake or river, trees, sky and mountains, with minimal additional paint. By the end of the session under Bruce’s tutelage, everyone owned a beautiful painting.
