Oakwood Lady Niners Golf League

Reggie Wegman

The summer is almost gone. Goodbye and farewell to another hot one. The gals who played this summer are to be congratulated on your perseverance! We became very creative in speeding up the game with lots of “gimmies” and best ball shots.

The first day of regulation play will be Nov. 1 at 9 a.m. Please use the Chelsea system to sign up. The game of the day will be Fewest Putts and Only Fewest Putts.

A Welcome Back Coffee is scheduled for Nov. 2 in the Oakwood golf clubhouse from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Coffee and a light snack will be available. If you know someone who is thinking of joining our club, please bring her along. If you are new to the community, please stop by if you are interested in joining a terrific group. Everyone is eligible to join—those who live in Sun Lakes, as well as those from other communities. We are a follow-the-rules league but have lots of fun playing the game we love. If you do not have a handicap, we can help you develop one. If you are new to the area, email me at [email protected] and I can help you get started with a membership to the Oakwood Lady Niners Golf League.

Our first luncheon will be Nov. 8, immediately following golf. The menu is a cup of minestrone soup and half club sandwich with a dessert and a beverage. The cost is $20.50, and a check for the lunch made out to OLNGA can be sent to Rachel Enloe. Her home address is in our booklet, or you can drop it off in the OLNGA slot in the clubhouse no later than Nov 1. Please put your check in an envelope addressed to Rachel, our treasurer.

Voting for our officers will take place at the luncheon.

President: Pam Matassarin

Vice President: Karen Graves

Treasurer: Rachel Enloe

Secretary: Lynn Matassarin

OLNGA has its own website. It is oakwoodladyniners.wixsite.com/olnga. Please put this address into your favorites and use it often. The application to join or rejoin is on the website. All the necessary information is on the application, and the deadline for the check for $85 is no later than Dec. 15. Be sure to place your application and check in an envelope, into the OLNGA drop box in the Community Room in the golf clubhouse, and address it to Rachel Enloe.
