Here are some fun facts:

1984: Cottonwood Lady 9ers start the Oakwood Lady Niners

1985: First Developers Cup presented by E.J. Robson, Oakwood closed, Invitational held at Palo Verde

1986: New local rule, tunnel at number 7 declared out of bounds

1987: First Niners hole-in-one at Oakwood, Margaret Overstreet on hole 6 using a “ginty”

1988: Back nine opens, hole-in-one by Margaret Johnson on number 9 with a 6-iron

The course was reconfigured many times over the years, so the holes mentioned are different from what we know them as today. These games were played on the Palms course. It was the only Oakwood course finished and ready for golf.

The Golf Club was a trailer, commonly known as the “posting shack.”

We wish you all a wonderful, healthy holiday season and a great new year full of lots of golf and camaraderie.
