Jim Davis, Publicity
It’s warmed up but we’re still out there chipping away at it. This edition of the PVMGA newsletter started out in late May on the 31st with a Three Best Ball Net format and the winning team of Bud Murray, Rich Featherstone, George Townsend and Tom Roark with a 160. On June 7, we had a team scramble format and winning with a 37.5 was Jim Gillispie, Ron Crabtree, Jerry Lofquist and Bill Foreman. On June 14th we had a Select-a-Drive format and the winners were Tony Hames, Bob Keltz, George Townsend and Marcel Grossman with a team total of 87.
On June 21, we played a Beat the Pro, with four man teams playing a scramble, with our handicaps against two of the Pros and the Course Superintendent and his right hand man and the little handicap they had. There were seven teams that beat the Pros. On June 28 we changed the format to a two man team, alternate shot, with two flights. The first flight winners with a 54.5 were John Mitchell and Tom Jeub, with the 2nd flight winners with a 53.5 being Bill Saxton and Steve Keating. Our July 5 winners in a Three Best Ball Net format with a 166 were Dick Howell, Don Lindsay, Barry Mostovoy and Bill Wesley.
On a sadder note for our club, two of our members passed away in the past weeks. They were Dave Knight who passed on June 28, 2014 and Art Freed, our 1997 Past President, on July 4, 2014. Our condolences and prayers go out to the families.
We at the PVMGA pride ourselves at being the friendliest golf association in Sun Lakes; just ask us! If you are new to the area or just thinking about joining a men’s golf group, please contact our PVCC Pro Shop at 895-0300 and talk to our pros about becoming a member of the PVMGA. We look forward to meeting you and getting you acquainted with all the members in our club.
Until next time; fairways and greens to all of you.
