09/02. Labor Day again was remembered; 70 years ago the Russians invaded Poland resulting in the beginning of WWII. There are very few weekly tournament results to report this month due to the record amount of rain that forced the closing of our golf courses. Overseeding is another reason. The rains from hurricane Norman nearly submerged our beautiful state. We were observed nationally on every cable network, the heaviest rainfall in 75 years.

The Eclectic Tournament results are as follows: Flight 1: Tammy Visser and Cindy Bosch, Ann Hammond; Sandy Eeds, Dolly Schaedel and Carol Ruff all tied for third. In Flight 2 Shirley Marshall, Wanda Johnson and Paula Elberry were respectively the winners.

9/16. The Select a Drive tournament was won by the team of Tammy Visser, Pattie Seiberling, Shirley Marshall and Jerry Jordan. Dolly Schaedel, Karen Bailey, Pat Kreiling and Rita Raymond were the second team to win and in third place the team of Carol Ruff, Rose Hames, Kathy Jones and Shirley Hutchings.

9/23. The opening meeting and luncheon was held in the Palo Verde dining room. Our new board was nominated and introduced to us. Our past presidencies dating back to 1990 were also present and acknowledged. The tournament of the day (Scramble) was won by the team of Ann Hammond, Shirley Marchall, Pat Florence and Nancy Nelson. In second place was the team of Carolyn Tagatz, Karen Baily, Terry Heichelbeck and Jean Kempf. The third place team winners were Colleen Mitchell, Anita Barber, Marj Rasmussen and Rosemary Schutts.

Another reminder: Our annual Rally for a Cure Cancer Tournament will be held on November 18. Cottonwood ladies and Palo Verde ladies will be participating as well as our men’s league and their guests. For information contact our Chair Carolyn Tagatz at 895-0852. See you then; enjoy our fall temperatures!
