Just as the days were becoming comfortably warm, our snowbird friends either started (or began thinking about) packing for the trek north where we know there is always a chance of snow. We full-timers just don’t understand it.
The March report begins with morning and afternoon scrambles on the 12th of the month. The 9:00 a.m. contest was won with a score of 32.75 by Daryl Ramseyer, Barry Mostovoy, Craig Currie and Larry Chidester. The 1:00 p.m. event was won by Lowell Kuenzi, Royal Carlson, Bill Saxton and John Kuchera who posted a 36.25.
At noon, Butch Reber hosted the annual President’s Lunch, during which trophies were presented to winning participants of the Club Championship. Butch then introduced the past presidents in attendance, thanking them for their service. Thank you gentlemen!
On the morning of March 19, a Two Best Ball Net event was tied with scores of 93! The winning foursomes were Gary Chadwell, James Granzow, Bill Danner, Ivan Shaw; and John Mitchell, Craig Currie, Norm Elbery and Ken Nelson. An afternoon Two Best Ball challenge was won by Ben Caviness, Ron Crabtree, Frank Broley and Bob Lawson with a 105 total.
The annual Home and Home Tournament with Oakwood Country Club was held on March 24 and 26. The winning team with a score of 210 consisted of Doug Braun and Blair Poitras from Oakwood and Gerald Kirby and Jim Berreth of Palo Verde.
A Two Man – One Net Best Ball event was held the afternoon of March 26.
Flight 1 was tied at 50 by Rick Onken, Jeff Martin, Jack Hill and Terry Cronin. Flight 2 was won by Bill Davis with a blind draw and a score of 51.
The Member/Guest event was held April 2 and 3. The participants enjoyed the various related activities and several bank accounts were bolstered. The winning team by a one stroke margin (see attached photo) was Gary Zahnow and Gerry Kuczek!
A 3-2-1 contest held the afternoon of April 2 was won by Rick Onken, Dick Harris and Marcell Grossman.
An April 9 Select-A-Drive challenge was won by Tony Hames, Al Baumgartner, Jim Berreth and Larry Chidester with a score of 139.
Upcoming events include the April 30–May 7 Match Play tournament, a May 14 Two Man Best Ball followed by lunch and meeting, with a second Two Man Best Ball in the afternoon and Best Ball events on May 14.
