The Restless Minds discussion group begins its 20th season at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 10, in the Sewing Room of Oakwood’s Arts and Crafts Center.
The group meets on the second Tuesday of each month, September through May, to discuss topics of general interest. Each session focuses on one topic. All people with open, inquisitive minds are invited to attend. There are no dues or advance signups; just show up and participate.
In the spirit of Labor Day, the September 10 discussion, led by Bill Gates, will explore why we pay people what we pay them, and the implications of those decisions.
Discussion topics are likely to focus on the proposed hike in the federal minimum wage to the level of pay for professional athletes and corporate CEOs to the impact of automation and artificial intelligence on work and pay.
Other questions for the evening include why teachers in Arizona and other states are paid so little and how we fared with pay issues during our careers.
The discussion will end promptly at 9:00 p.m. For more information on Restless Minds, call Bill Gates or Bobbie Reed at 480-883-7410.
