As we head into the holiday season, which usually involves more eating and drinking than usual, set yourself up to feel good by doing some simple Restorative Yoga poses each day. Better yet, add a class (or two) into your workout routine by joining us at the Cottonwood Palo Verde Fitness Center! Restorative Yoga for digestion involves gentle, supported poses that stimulate the digestive organs, soothe the nervous system, and promote relaxation.

Key Restorative Yoga poses for digestion include:

• Child’s Pose: This gentle pose compresses the abdominal organs, stimulating their function.

• Knees to Chest: By bringing the knees to the chest, this pose helps to release gas and bloating.

• Seated or Supine Twist: Twisting motions stimulate the intestines and aid in moving food and waste through the digestive tract.

• Forward Folds: Gentle forward folds can soothe the nervous system and enhance circulation to the digestive organs.

• Legs-Up-the-Wall: This supportive pose can promote lymphatic drainage and calm internal inflammation.

• Bridge Pose: This pose provides stimulation to abdominal organs and creates space for deep breathing.

• Corpse Pose: Lying on the back allows for deep relaxation, which is crucial for a healthy and balanced digestive system.

This is an ideal practice for anyone dealing with stress, burnout, fatigue, injury, or simply looking to unwind deeply. The class is done on the floor and is suitable for all fitness levels and can be a powerful addition to your self-care routine. Please bring two blankets (or towels) to class. Blocks and straps are provided.

Please join Elise for class at the Sun Lakes Cottonwood Palo Verde Fitness Center.

Classes are Monday and Friday at 10 a.m. The cost is $5 per class or prepay $20 to get five classes.

Hope to see you there!
