Rock Club ‘Rock’ Stars

Sun Lakes Rock, Gem & Silver Club members (left to right): Vice President Nancy Hibbard, President Anita Metzbower, and former Treasurer Gail Wilder

Yes, we were pleasantly surprised with the tremendous turnout and all of the new members and renewals who signed up at the Oakwood ballroom for Sun Lakes Rock, Gem & Silver Club’s 2021-22 season.

Who are these ‘Rock’ Stars? Vice President Nancy Hibbard is also chair of all the Glass programs, President Anita Metzbower is also an instructor in the Lost Wax programs, and former Treasurer Gail Wilder is an instructor and chair of all the Silver programs.

Inasmuch as we have five very large categories with 24 separate classes for individual members, you may wish to take a look at our website. Just click online at www.slrgs.com and see which ones you’ll want to take next.

What are the big five categories? Well, number one is Lapidary, with eight different classes; then Silver, with seven classes; then Lost Wax, with two classes; then Glass with three classes; and last but not least is Creative Crafts with four classes.

What are the requirements to join the Rock Club? Membership is limited to those who reside in Sun Lakes.

When are your general meetings? On the third Monday of each month from October through April at 10 a.m. in the Navajo Room of the Sun Lakes Country Club.

Do I have to be a professional artist? Yes! (No, I was just kidding.) We are merely a group of handy amateurs who enjoy sharing craft knowledge and bringing creative fun to our community.

I’m new in Sun Lakes—will I make new friends? Absolutely guaranteed you will meet and enjoy camaraderie with your classmates, who will then become your newest friendships.

How do I do that? Just give us a call, tell us your name, and leave a message. Call Nancy Hibbard at 480-802-0193, Anita Metzbower at 410-241-1391, or Gail Wilder at 480-895-1701.
